Bad news for the world of fashion: Oscar de la Renta has said goodbye to us without prior notice -although he was suffering from cancer since 2006, no one expected this ending- and six days after naming his successor Peter Copping. Dominican by birth, De la Renta studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes in Madrid and was forged as a designer under orders from Balenciaga. It took very little across the pond from the hand of Jacqueline Kennedy, then First Lady of the United States and a declared fan of the designer. Like many other celebrities, who have worn their stunning dresses on the red carpet and in memorable fashion editorials. Goodbye to a genius, goodbye to his famous “walk like you have three men walking behind you”. But I will not forget it.
