The Artist is Absent

Martin Margiela, the famous “man without a face” of the fashion industry, removes his mask timidly in the documentary “The Artist is Absent“, directed by Alison Chernick, who bares the world of the Belgian artist through his fashion shows and interviews with geniuses of the fashion world such as Suky Menkes, Raf Simons and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Famous for covering the faces of the models and make garments with recycled materials, Margiela’s designs have always been linked to the concept of “anti-fashion”. Martin’s soul is still screaming in rebellion, like his successor, John Galliano, who´s addicted to flahes and show.
